#6 Advanced ABA Programming for Children with Autism
Prerequisite- Participants MUST have prior knowledge of the VB-MAPP, a strong command of the verbal operants, and an understanding of basic NET and DTT procedures.
This two-day workshop is designed to prepare staff, related personnel, and parents to teach advanced VB-MAPP skills to students with autism and other developmental disabilities using a behavioral approach based, in part, on B.F. Skinners analysis of verbal behavior. It is recommended that an VB-MAPP protocol be brought to the workshop.
Participants will be given information and hands-on experience in the following areas:
Specific prompting procedures for numerous VB-MAPP goals, such as backward chaining and joint control
Implementing protocols for teaching conditional discriminations involving verbal and non-verbal stimuli (ex. color, size, etc.)
Having students answer novel wh questions
Contriving situations that motivate students to mand for information
Designing advanced NET lesson plans incorporating multiple verbal operants
Making decisions regarding inclusion in less- restrictive settings
Guidelines for implementing academic programs
